The full moon, like the new moon, is a symbol for the shift, or change,
in the energy over the course of a month. The first half of the month, from new to full, is about internal transformation. The stuff that happens below the surface. The full moon is a culmination of those changes, and from the full moon to the next new moon the focus is on external transformation- how those changes impact your life/environment.
The full moon in Scorpio occurs at 18 degrees of Scorpio on Saturday, May 9 at 12:01 AM in Miami, FL.
Scorpio is the sign of transformation, and thrives on experiencing the regenerative power of destruction. The time around a Scorpio full moon, however, can be especially dramatic since this is a sign that prefers to keep its secrets well-protected. With Mars being the traditional ruler of Scorpio we see the same Warrior energy of Aries with one crucial difference- it’s turned inward.
Two weeks ago at the Taurus new moon we collectively shifted into a new cycle of examining and refining our values, including things that reflect our values, like time, money, and personal abilities. Now at the full moon our choices become manifest in the world and interact with our environment. And this can be tricky because it means bumping up against other people and their own values. Scorpio can be very self-protective, so to make the most of this month’s energy here are three traps you’ll want to avoid at the full moon.
The three traps to avoid during the Scorpio full moon
1. Self-Destructiveness. Taurus is the sign of production and Scorpio is the sign of destruction (or transformation- often carried out through the cycle of death and rebirth). Are you attracting dramatic situations in order to help you make the changes that need to be made in your life? There may be healthier and more conscious ways of bringing about change. Likewise, is someone else pulling you into his or her drama? If so, acknowledge this and choose not to feed their co-dependence.
2. Inflexibility. If you notice yourself digging in your heels ask youself if you’re being overly-attached to a feeling or idea. Scorpio can be tenacious and the thought of letting go can be cause for a “well if I can’t have it then no one can” attitude. Likewise, if you find others acting inflexible with you, then perhaps probe a little deeper to find out what’s causing the attachment. Often times just being heard will help soften up their position.
3. Suspicion. Everyone has a motive for doing what they do. If you feel yourself becoming suspicious (which is ego driven) ask the other person for more information to ease your concerns. Likewise, if you find others reacting to you in a suspicious way this may be a clue that you’re not communicating or being as clear as you could be in dealing with them.
Use the intensity of this full moon to recharge your feelings and passions. Avoiding these three traps will help you channel your energies into more creative and fullfiling endeavors. May we all continue to grow this spring. Namaste’
