“Employ thy time well, if thou meanest to get leisure.”
- Benjamin Franklin
I like to have my new moon blog post done at least a day or two before the new moon, but here it is Friday evening and I’m still writing! I’ve been thinking about why I am procrastiating , and then it dawned on me- the new moon is in Taurus! Taurus, the bull, is fond of leisure time. The influence of Venus on this sign imbues it with an affection for the comfortable, delicious, and languid in life.
The childrens story “Ferdinand the Bull” is the story of a bull who would rather smell flowers than fight in bullfights. Taurus delights in enjoying life’s treats- good food, leisure time, and aesthetic beauty (especially after periods of profitable productivity) . So with that in mind I’m going to be brief so that I can go back to relaxing!
Astrology of the New Moon
Looking at the chart (april-new-moon-chart) for the new moon we find four planets in earth signs and five planets in fixed signs. The energy this month will be heavily Taurean- slow and steady execution, held to a standard, in order to remain productive. Wherever you have Taurus in your chart is where you may want to focus your energy this month. This is where you’ll need to hold the course, plod along, and simply get things done.
There are three aspects (connections) in the chart that will influence the Taurean energy of the month: the new moon is trine to Pluto in Capricorn; Venus and Mars are side by side and making a square aspect to Pluto; and Mercury in Taurus is making a square to a Jupiter-Neptune combo.
Instead of just outlining the astrological meanings of this, and in an effort to get back to my leisure time I’m simply going to leave you with three questions to ask yourself over the weekend:
1. Where in my life do I have opportunities for being more productive?
2. What tangible resources do I need to move forward in that area?
3. Am I fantasizing more than actually doing? And am I negotiating with others fairly? (okay, so it’s four questions)
If you know your chart look for the house where you have 5 degrees of Taurus. That’s where you should personally be focusing your attention this month. And it’s that same area where you have an opportunity to reap the benefits of your hard work. Now if you don’t mind I’m going to go back to reaping mine- cheers!
