October’s new moon occurs on Tuesday October 28th at 7:14 pm and happens at 5 degrees of Scorpio 54 minutes. The new moon is when the Sun and Moon share the same position in the sky and heralds the beginning of a new monthly cycle.
Last month I mentioned that every planetary pair has their own cycle. Because the new moon repeats monthly it’s more inclined to guide us through shorter, more personal cycles, each building on the last. Much like the physical growing season that spans the entire year and is managed in seasonal phases the new moon is our personal cycle of monthly activity.
With the new moon occuring in Scorpio this month’s cycle should focus on all things Scorpionic: elimination, regeneration, and transformation. This time of year heralds the end of the harvest when we can observe the changing leaves. Food that has been collected is transformed- fruits and vegetables are cooked and canned to last throughout the winter.
Wherever Scorpio falls in your own chart is that area of life where you should be focusing your energy this month with an eye towards uncovering what’s been hidden, transforming what’s no longer needed, and facing your fears.
In lieu of Halloween tricks I’ll offer you these affirmations as treats for the soul:
- My fears don’t define me but describe parts of me that I’m still developing
- I can have possessions without being possesed by them
- When I investigate the motives and values of others I create mutual understanding
- Experiencing doubt doesn’t shut me off but gives me pause to examine how I really feel
Happy Halloween!
